What is sea glass?

Sea Glass is glass found on beaches along oceans that has been tumbled and smoothed by the water and sand, creating small pieces of smooth, frosted glass. We find our sea glass while walking the beaches of Buzzard's Bay in Massachusetts. There are a lot of boats and a rocky shore which makes a good recipe for sea glass. Our family has been collecting sea glass for over twelve years and we have literally tens of thousands of specimens. This site is a photographic catalog of our sea glass collection, our weathered jewels. Kick back and peek around at the photos of sea glass.

Horseshoe Crabs

When we go out hunting for Sea Glass, sometimes we find other wonders. While hunting for sea glass this past weekend, we came across these horseshoe crabs mating. There are tons of horseshoe crabs in Buzzard's Bay and we see them while walking the beach quite a bit, but I've never seen them mating before. The female horseshoe crab is very dark and she has has barnacles and seaweed growing on her shell while the male's shell is paler and free of any foreign growth.
